Normally I am not a flower photographer but I am still trying to test my new macro which means one flower at least is a must. And again I post a sepia version. Additionally I tried another version (have a look here). First I liked the red colour but now I am not sure anymore... maybe because it looks a bit to tacky for me. Btw my other lens arrived and if I will have a bit more time I will say a few words about it.
Mal schauen, was ich morgen darüber denke...

The subtle tones make for a really nice shot. Well done!
I agree, I like this one better than the red. The curvature of the shadows in this one plays beautifully into the curvature of the flower's form. The filaments in the leaves are so delicate and you lose that somewhat in the red. Lovely!
I definitely prefer this version to the red colored one.
In this one I am really drawn to the curved shadow of the petal, curling behind the flower. I also really like the contrast of the straight grass up against the bloom.
I agree with you that floral macros have been done to death, but I think you have a very nice one here.
very elegant, i love the tones and light and shadow here, it almost looks as though it is entirely made of light and shadow and not a flower at all ... stunning!

Beautiful result, I love the suggestion of a papery texture.

Very good use of the transparency of this flower, I am not much for flower shots either, but this is about light, and I like it.
