This is one of the pictures I took on Saturday when I was in Wetzlar together with Kristof. And now you can guess who's the photographer you can see behind the wall :)
Some days ago I already mentioned that I am not 100% happy with my results and every shot has a small bit I am grumpy about. For this shot: it looks nearly as I wanted it to be but I think the arms are a tiny little bit to bright! So please tell me your opinion!
Grmpf! Also, was sagt Ihr?
Comments
I like your shot. Are the arms too bright? Not for me, but if yoou intended a different look to the shot, then yes. Art is subjective and in the fianl analysis, getting "on film" what you see in your mind is the real measure of success.
I think I tend to agree with you. The arms are a bit overexposed. It does create an intersting affect, though. I tend to squint while I look at the picture.
The color on the stone is great.
You know, I almost take back what I said above. If the exposure were dead on on the arms, it might make it a more boring composition (just a shot of a semi-obscurred person taking a shot). This way, there is enough information to be understand that it is a person (the watch, finger and shirt give that away), while it is unclear what is in their hand or what they are doing, which makes me want to look at the picture longer.
Okay, take what you like from this post. I think I'll just stop for now.
Actually I think the bright arms create a great contrast and direct the eye towards the hidden photographer. I wonder what the shot would look like with the wall a bit more on the right so as to put the subject a bit off-center... Anyway, nicely spotted!
