It was a normal Sunday. I stayed in bed long and had a great breakfast (pancakes). Then I went Downtown and tried to buy some Christmas presents - I failed completely. In the end I ended up in a store which is probably great for a Goth. I saw a t-shirt from 'the crow' in there and thought about buying it for the long forgotten times. In the end I didn't buy it but I found a new pair of gloves. I was trying to find these for a long time, because in my opinion they are good for taking pictures when it is cold outside. When I was at home I stared at them for a while and suddenly I had some pics in my mind I wanted to take. But therefore I needed a female model. Disappointed I looked around my living room, but there was non. Terrible feeling. I decided to do something and so I ended up in the bathroom playing around with my makeup (actually I am still surprised that I took my make up with me to Seattle. I can't even remember when I used it the last time but I would guess that it is more than a year ago). It was a bit strange that I enjoyed all this: I do not really like dressing up and I am not patient with all kinds of styling, I don't like Carneval or Halloween and I hate it to be in front of the camera. But yes, it was fun. Probably because I had these images in my mind and I wanted to take them right away. Anyway that should be enough for today. I will probably post another one of this evening (but I might need a bottle of wine before I click the publish button).

I think you make an excellent model, I really do. These shots are great! really really great!! I like the blue tones of the right hand image better, the grain too and the composition is better IMO (with more of you in the shot). You have a very striking look, I think either could almost be a shot of Shirley Manson of Garbage!
Marina, love these shots. I know what you mean about getting in front of the camera, I have only just recently managed to do a self portrait (after 17 years of owning a decent camera)! Love the colour treatment, love the poses and the make-up has really added an edge to it too. Looking forward to more!!
Marina you shouldn't shoot at people with ur fingers, you could have hurt somebody !!! Just kidding, I like the left one better, kind of a mix of Nikita attitude and Tomb Raider. The right handside one is ok but more "cliché" to me. But this is only my humble opinion. I like the left one because it really feels like you're determined and it shows. Plus if you forget the fact that the black part around your hands are the gloves, one could think it is two small little hands or paws on each side of your hands. Oh, please do not think I'm crazy I just let my imagination go ...

I love what you've done with the "cold" shot. The way your eye is blurred between your two fingers gives me the chill... :)
sweet self portraits, Marina....perfect side by side like this. diggin' the colour tones, and how your eyes are just outta' site, but still in clear view.

Very cool photos. I like how your face is partially blocked but your eyes still show. Makes the image more mysterious.

Tolle Farb-Kombi.

Very cool! Each picture is great but getting them together and with color doubles the impact... Square format is fun, isn't it?

Glad you posted these, they are great. Especially the one at the left, for the way you are looking at the camera.
